LUNATIC GODS - Ante Portas
2007 - Hrom records
Ladies and gentlemen, after a long time I had an opportunity to listen to something very proper!
Lunatic Gods emerged with straight piece. Even the first song shows, how this band is able to work with combination „guitar-keyboards“, guitars are yelling, vocal is trembling and roaring like thunder – whole bunch of energy and enthusiasm. Intermezzo in the form of clean vocals is done well, but time to time it sounds schmaltzic.
I must tell that the lyrics are written with great art, being atmospheric and also rich in the verbal task. This album also shows us arsenal of untypical instruments (we can hear bagpipe, Jew's Harp, saxophone, flaute and pipe), which makes the music rather special – someone likes it, someone doesn’t. Song number 3, thus „Ballade about poppy grinder“, is much distinctive. Lyrics are very poethic, especially these about poppy grinder and child’s arms :))
This music offers kind of an artistic experience, you do not have to do a mosh pit to enjoy this music properly (I’m afraid this is not even possible). Even instrumental piece is available, what should I say, it’s outstanding. In each song, we can see that Lunatic Gods are following the same sheme – fast parts with growling are penetrating slower ones with clean vocals.
It’s necesarry to focus on instrumental part of music, therefore it all doesn’t get more and more boring. Yet, song named „Duality“ is whole full of velocity and agression, nice to see this band can do even songs like this :)
I cannot see any other insufficiency on this album. All the vocalists have done their job well, album is high-quality, resourceful, joyable to listen and sometimes even nicely agressive.
Listening is surely worth it ;-)
